The Rangers on Wednesday are expected to announce agreements with their top two draft picks, third basemen Josh Jung of Texas Tech and Davis Wendzel of Baylor, three major league sources said Tuesday. The deals are pending final physical results.
Jung, 21, was the eighth overall pick and is the second-highest drafted player remaining unsigned. Outfielder J.J. Bleday, the fourth-overall pick, from College World Series champion Vanderbilt also remains unsigned. The Rangers took Wendzel with the 41st overall pick.
It's unclear what the exact bonus figures are, but the recommended slot for Jung was $5.18 million, while Wendzel's slot was $1.
