Wendell Smallwood’s performance was one of the only positives for West Virginia in its 40-10 loss at TCU a week ago.
The junior running back rushed for 113 yards, marking the fourth 100-yard game in the past five games and the sixth of his career. That’s all the more impressive, considering Smallwood suffered an ankle injury in an Oct. 3 loss at Oklahoma.
He’s the Big 12’s third-leading rusher and among the top 20 in the FBS, building on last season when he carried 148 times for 722 yards and two touchdowns.
With five games left in the 2015 season, Smallwood has already accumulated 791 yards off 121 carries for five TDs.
