Louisiana Tech cornerbacks coach Kevin Curtis will be joining SMU's coaching staff in the same capacity, according to a report from Sports Illustrated's Bruce Feldman.
Curtis spent the last two seasons at Louisiana Tech, which held SMU to 127 yards receiving in the Frisco Bowl last month, a season-low for the Mustangs. Prior that to LA Tech, he was the defensive backs coach at Texas Tech from 2013-15.
The 37-year-old Curtis has a couple of connections to head coach Sonny Dykes. Curtis worked under Dykes at Louisiana Tech from 2010-12 as the cornerbacks coach. Then Dykes was at Texas Tech as an assistant coach at the end of Curtis' playing career with the Red Raiders from 1998-2001.
