Red Raiders go big on defensive linemen, tall at WR, DB on signing day

Lanky wide receivers. Tall cornerbacks. Defensive linemen of any description.

Oh, and game-changing quarterbacks are always welcome at Texas Tech.

Red Raiders football coach Kliff Kingsbury made those his priorities and landed some of each when the national signing period started Wednesday, announcing a class of 24 recruits — 20 newly signed and four who enrolled in January.

“On the areas that we were really concerned, post-season, we got those addressed and feel good about those guys coming in,” Kingsbury said.

Kingsbury and defensive coordinator David Gibbs both want more size on the outside. Attesting to the former were the signings of wide receivers Antoine Cox-Wesley (6-foot-5, 175 pounds) from Cibolo Steele, T.
