Janine Beckie’s 26th minute goal proved to be the difference as the Texas Tech soccer team continued their winning streak Saturday night, defeating the North Texas Mean Green 1-0. Beckie, the all-time scoring leader for Texas Tech, scored the night’s only goal about ten yards out on a quick give-and-go from Caity Heap.
The first half was a bit of a “feeling out” period between the two teams prior to Beckie’s goal. However, the pace of the game picked up tremendously in the second half as Texas Tech began to significantly pressure the Mean Green’s defensive back-line. The “choppiness” factor of the game also increased in the second half as a pair of yellow cards were issued to North Texas’ Lindsey Hulstein and Tess Graham.
