Leashja Grant just did what Texas Tech coach Candi Whitaker wanted.
She dominated.
Grant scored 26 points and pulled down 15 rebounds as the Lady Raiders used an opening 16-0 run to defeat Niagara 79-45 in its season opener at United Supermarkets Arena on Friday morning.
“That’s what coach Whitaker wanted,” Grant said sheepishly after that game.
Whitaker joked: “And she does exactly what I want all the time.”
Rayven Brooks got things started for Texas Tech (1-0) with a 3-pointer from the top of the key and Grant scored six points in the opening run.
