Latest Big 12 media rights move will shift how fans watch favorite teams, and may cost extra for some viewers

ESPN was expected to pick up rights to the Big 12 football championship game when Fox declined its option - and it did.

There's much more too. The agreement with the Big 12 went far beyond three title game broadcasts - in addition to the ones already held by ESPN.

In a major media rights move announced Wednesday, the third tier rights that were previously controlled by each school will now be branded on the ESPN+ streaming service. Home events of Texas, which has its Longhorn Network through ESPN, and Oklahoma, which has a deal with Fox, will not be seen on ESPN+.
