Texas Tech faced a bumpy transition year under head coach Chris Beard and failed to reach the NCAA Tournament after taking a trip to the big dance the previous season under Tubby Smith.
Beard had a veteran squad and relied on its experience from JUCO transfers and members of Smith's recruiting class already in the Texas Tech basketball program.
Beard kept up the recruiting notching two South Plains College basketball athletes for next season—Jordan Brangers and Josh Webster— that is until today.
Jordan Brangers told The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal that he wanted to be closer to his home in Kentucky for family reasons.
