Texas Tech fans should remember Mike Warren.
As a freshman a season ago, Warren broke Iowa State’s freshman single-game rushing mark with a career-high 245 yards, the eighth-best effort in school history.
Now as the Red Raiders travel to Ames to take on the Cyclones at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, they’ll have their hands full with a different running back — David Montgomery.
The freshman was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week after he ran for 169 yards against Kansas, a mark that’s fifth behind Warren’s total a year ago against Texas Tech.
A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Montgomery’s breakout game this past Saturday helped the Cyclones earn their first Big 12 victory of the season with a 31-24 win at Kansas.
