Before Matt Mooney and Tariq Owens ever played a game at Texas Tech, they were representing the school at Big 12 media day in Kansas City.
Coach Chris Beard wanted to send the message about where the two graduate transfers stood with him and the team before their one season in Lubbock.
"Trust is a big word in our game," Beard said. "The challenge with one-year guys with grad transfers or one-and-dones is how you develop that trust and that relationship quickly. Above many, many things, I think the thing I'm most appreciate of Matt and Tariq is trusting us from Day 1.
