Dean, CookTaylor lead Texas Tech past Idaho

Japreece Dean was one of the most highly touted point guards in the nation coming out of Cedar Park Vista Ridge High School.

The Texas Tech freshman showed why Wednesday.

Dean scored 23 points and the Lady Raiders got off to a large-lead early as they dispatched Idaho 78-62 at United Supermarkets Arena.

Tech (6-1) forced six turnovers in the first quarter against an Idaho (7-2) team that was only turning the ball over 12 times per game. And when the Vandals, who had beaten Iowa State by 28 points and played within six of Duke, went from the man to a zone defense, the Lady Raiders made them pay for hit, draining six 3-pointers in the game’s opening 15 minutes alone as it jumped out to a 9-0 lead and eventually a 26-8 lead midway through the second quarter.
