ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Normally, Chris Beard can recite all his team's defensive stats on command after a Texas Tech win.
The Tech coach had to make an apology when asked about the number of deflections that the Red Raiders had in the 75-69 West Region final win over top-seeded Gonzaga, Beard noted Sunday was a little different.
Make that a lot different, as in unprecedented, as Beard explained.
"We celebrated going to the Final Four," Beard said. "Texas Tech is going to the Final Four. Texas Tech is going to the Final Four. Some of you look surprised.
