Homecoming
This week's NCAA Tournament game in Dallas will be a homecoming of sorts for Beard. He was born in Irving, only a 23 minute drive from the American Airlines Center, where the Red Raiders will be playing their first round game against Stephen F. Austin.
Texas Two Step
Beard danced around the state of Texas early in his coaching career, making pit stops at Texas, Incarnate World, Abilene Christian and North Texas as an assistant before earning is first head coach position at Fort Scott Community College in Kansas.
