Homecoming
Last week's NCAA Tournament game in Dallas was a homecoming of sorts for Beard. He was born in Irving, only a 23-minute drive from the American Airlines Center, where the Red Raiders won two games to advance to the Sweet 16.
Texas Two Step
Beard danced around the state of Texas early in his coaching career, making pit stops at Texas, Incarnate World, Abilene Christian and North Texas as an assistant before earning is first head coach position at Fort Scott Community College in Kansas.
