In a game where runs were hard to come by, Young's late-game heroics were enough to lift Texas State to a 3-2 extra-inning victory over Troy during the first round of the Sun Belt Tournament on Wednesday night. It was the Bobcats' first victory in SBC Tournament proceedings as they were one and done the previous two seasons.
With Texas State (37-18) trailing by a run, Young ripped the first pitch she saw from Rachel Rigney to knot Wednesday's tilt at 2 in the seventh inning. While Trojan left fielder Stephanie Snyder gave chase and even scaled the wall, those efforts were futile as Young's towering homer landed well over the wall in left center.
