SAN MARCOS, Texas- Texas State junior linebacker Sione Tupou has been named the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week after recording a career-high and game-high 14 tackles in Texas State's 33-31 quadruple overtime victory over South Alabama last Saturday night. Tupou also forced and recovered a fumble to help the Bobcats win the game.
With Texas State trailing 24-10 in the fourth quarter, Tupou forced a fumble by South Alabama, and the Bobcats recovered at the Jaguars' 41-yard line to set up a 41-yard touchdown drive to pull Texas State to within seven points with 7:17 left to play.
