Texas State to sell beer and wine at baseball and softball games this spring

Most colleges don't sell beer and wine inside their stadiums.

Yet, the number of schools who are changing their tune is growing.

Texas State joined the latter of those two groups as university president Denise Trauth approved the sale of alcohol at certain home games, an athletic department spokesman told the Daily Record on Wednesday afternoon.

Beginning with baseball and softball next month, the Bobcats will serve beer and wine. The Texas State softball team's season opens on Feb. 12 when it hosts Abilene Christian and Oklahoma State during a three-day tournament. The Bobcat baseball team, on the other hand, kicks off its 2016 campaign with a four-game series inside Bobcat Ballpark against Washington State on Feb.
