NEW ORLEANS — Texas State learned one lesson the hard way on Friday night: In a battle of depth against a top-tier opponent in UT Arlington, the Bobcats were undoubtably going to come out on the losing end.
It's not as if this was surprising news for Danny Kaspar and company. Texas State had a short bench all season (read: six players who averaged 21 or more minutes and a sharp drop off from there). To make matters worse, Ethan Montalvo was sidelined due to a concussion he suffered during Texas State's previous game, a 63-61 victory in the first round over Georgia State, and Kendell Ramlal was out for the entire tournament with a torn meniscus.
