Texas State Kicks Off Jake Spavital Era In Thursday Night Prime Time Game

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State football team under first-year head coach Jake Spavital will begin its 2019 season in prime time on a Thursday night in front of a national television viewing audience. The Bobcats will open the 2019 campaign with a 7:30 p.m. matchup at Texas A&M on the SEC Network Aug. 29 at Kyle Field. The game was originally scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 31.

Spavital, who served as the Aggies' offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2013-15, will begin his head coaching career in 2019. Last season, the Aggies had nine victories that included a win in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl in JImbo Fisher's first season at Texas A&M.
