Texas State Hosts 23rd Annual Athletic Academic Awards

SAN MARCOS, Texas -- The Texas State Athletics Department and Oak Farms Dairy honored the academic achievements for 77 distinguished individuals at Texas State's 23rd annual Athletics Academic Awards ceremonies that were held Tuesday in the J. Garland Warren Room at Bobcat Stadium.

Each of the student-athletes who were honored at the ceremonies have maintained a grade point average of 3.5 or higher during the 2015 spring and/or fall semesters.

The student-athletes who earned Academic Achievement Awards include baseball players Calvin Bush, Brayden Theriot, Jared Huber, Isaac Hutto, and Justin Dellinger; soccer players Taylor Allen, Kelly Barbalias, Elizabeth Havenhill, Lynsey Curry, Ali Jones, Kira Zapalac, Jamie Brown, Monica McEntee, Kassi Hormuth, and Brooke Ramsey; women's tennis players Katy Collins, Yadira Rubio, Eva Dench, Joy Chia, and Shannon Beckett; volleyball players Emily Shelton, Morgan Lewis, Erin Hoppe, Alex Silver, Shelby Vas Matt, Lauren Kirch, and Kelsey Weynand; softball players Kimberlin Naivar, Quincy Charleston, Kayleigh Norte, and Jaelyn Young; football players Ryan Carden, Eric Luna, Connor White, Montreal Taylor, Marcus Ripley, Blake Peterson, James Sherman, William Copa, and Austin Krawcyzk; women's track and field athletes Julie Lange, Amber Gilmore, Kelly Trevino, Nikki Sanchez, Talore Kelly, Kylah Smith, Kaylee Krenek, Mylana Hearn, and Esther Oyetunde; women's basketball player Whitney Apari; men's track and field athletes Anthony Johnson, Michael Madu, T'Mond Johnson, and Seth Arnold; men's golfers Chase Ambrose, David Faraudo Godinez, and Justin Newby; and men's basketball player KJ Malveau.
