Softball Splits Pair of Fall Ball Games

SPRING, Texas -- The Texas State softball team split a pair of fall season games Saturday afternoon with a 4-0 victory over Houston and a 4-3 loss to West Texas A&M.

Junior Randi Rupp threw a complete game in the win against Houston, notching 10 strikeouts while only surrendering a pair of hits. Moreover, the two-time All-Sun Belt Conference selection was perfect through five innings before Houston got a runner on base in the sixth.

Christiana McDowell and Ariel Ortiz led the Bobcats at the plate against Houston. McDowell finished 1-2 with a triple, a RBI and two runs scored, while Ortiz was 2-3 with three RBI and swiped two bags.
