NEW ORLEANS – Senior Dalton Shuffield was named the Sun Belt Conference's Player of the Week on Tuesday following a stellar week against No. 11 Arizona and UTRGV. It is the first weekly conference award for the shortstop in his career.
Shuffield batted .500 with eight hits and six RBI in helping the Bobcats to a 3-1 record last week including a series victory over the Wildcats. He began the week by going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs scored, a double and a home run in a win over the Vaqueros.
The San Antonio native opened the weekend in Tucson, Arizona with a 2-for-4 day at the plate, driving in a run and hitting his eighth career triple.
