SAN MARCOS, TEXAS – After setting the Icelandic national record with a new personal-best in the hammer throw, Elisabet Runarsdottir was named the Sun Belt Conference Field Athlete of the Week for the period ending March 17, the Sun Belt announced.
This marks the second time in Runarsdottir's career she has earned the weekly honors from the conference.
At the UTSA Invitational, Runarsdottir recorded the new national record for her home country in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 69.11m/226-9. She placed first in the event.
Runarsdottir broke her previous PR and Icelandic national record of 66.
