NEW ORLEANS – Following their strong performances at the UIW Invitational over the weekend, junior Nikki Sanchez and sophomore Joseph Meade of the Texas State cross country teams were named the Sun Belt Conference's Runners of the Week.
Meade helped lead the men's team to a second place finish Saturday morning. He placed second with a career best time of 24:07 on the 8K course. The Round Rock, Texas native shed 40 seconds off his previous personal best. It is the first time he has earned the weekly conference award.
Sanchez placed 13 in the women's 6K race with a time of 22:48.
