Herrmann Strikes Out 10 in Shutout of Rice

HOUSTON – Junior right-hander Garrett Herrmann struck out a career-high 10 in the Texas State baseball team's (11-6) 5-0 victory over Rice (7-11) Wednesday night at Reckling Park. It was the first win for the Bobcats at the Owls home park since Mar. 1, 2002.

Herrmann went 5.2 innings as he allowed six hits and walked one to improve to 2-0 on the season. Garrett Gayle (0-2) suffered the loss after surrendering four runs on seven hits and two walks in 4.1 innings.

Both Travon Benton and Dalton Shuffield went 2-for-4 at the plate.
