SAN MARCOS, Texas – Announced Friday morning, Texas State Baseball Head Coach Ty Harrington was one of eight national recipients of the 2015 CollegeBaseballInsider.com's fifth-annual Tom Walter/Pete Frates College Baseball Inspiration Award.
The award recognizes examples of inspiration across college baseball. Started in 2011, it's named for Tom Walter, the head coach at Wake Forest who donated a kidney to freshman outfielder Kevin Jordan before the 2011 season, and Pete Frates, whose courageous battle with ALS captured the nation's attention with the Ice Bucket Challenge which raised more than $220 million for ALS research.
