ARLINGTON, TX — For nine seasons, Peejay Brun shared a dugout with Ricci Woodard as an assistant coach throughout Woodard's 22 seasons at the helm of the Texas State softball program. The pair won seven conference championships and developed more than 40 all-conference players during Brun's time in San Marcos.
In 2018, Brun departed the Hill County for the skylines of Arlington, Texas, where she was appointed the head coach of the UTA Mavericks softball program. The coaching pair have maintained their professional and personal friendship over the years despite hours apart.
This weekend, the Texas State and UTA softball programs will meet in a three-game Sun Belt Conference series beginning on Thursday, May 5 at 6 p.
