SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Sun Belt Conference and ESPN announced Wednesday that the Texas State football team will kick off its 2020 season with a nationally-televised game on ESPN when the Bobcats host SMU at 3:30 p.m. on September 5 at Bobcat Stadium.
The Bobcats are in their second season under second-year head coach Jake Spavital, who will be calling the offensive plays in 2020. Spavital began his head coaching career in 2019 after serving as the offensive coordinator and quarterback coach at Texas A&M, Cal, and West Virginia.
