SAN MARCOS, Texas – Junior cornerback Alonzo Edwards Jr. was named a nominee for the 2023 Allstate American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Good Works Team on Tuesday.
From Madison, Miss., Edwards Jr. was a key player on the Texas State defense in his first year as a Bobcat in 2022 and has also dedicated his time off of the field to serving in the Central Texas community.
In 12 games last season – including six starts – Edwards Jr. totaled 31 tackles (23 solo), 2.0 TFLs, five pass breakups and three forced fumbles. He started the final five games of the season and had 12 tackles, four pass breakups and two forced fumbles in that final stretch.
