Despite a 9-7 defeat at the hands of the Ragin' Cajuns earlier in the day, which accounted for the Bobcats' first setback of this year's Sun Belt Tournament, Ricci Woodard's team advanced out of the losers' bracket.
Texas State posted its most prolific performance at the plate across three days in Mobile, Alabama, and rolled to a 9-1 victory over Georgia State on Friday night at Jaguar Field. The Bobcats (39-19) will face UL Lafayette in today's championship game at 1 p.m.
"Today was a long day," Woodard said. "It was also fun because I felt like we had to compete all day.
