Each time Woodard picked up the phone on Sunday, Texas State’s head softball coach kept hearing a similar refrain: You’re in the NCAA Tournament.
But, as she would mention a day later, there is a big difference between people thinking you’re in the tournament and actually seeing your team’s name when the bracket is unveiled.
That moment arrived about 40 minutes into the selection show on Sunday night when the Bobcats learned that they had landed a spot in the Tuscaloosa Regional. It marked only the second time in program history that Texas State received an at-large selection.
