Lucas Humpal's decision to return for another season was validated on Friday afternoon.
Texas State's senior right hander was selected in the ninth round of this year's MLB First-Year Player Draft by the Baltimore Orioles. After the disappointment of 2015, where his ERA ballooned to 5.28, Humpal, who was chosen during the late rounds of last season's draft, elected to wait another year to fulfill his pro aspirations.
“I owed it to myself to come back,” Humpal said last month. “I wanted to come back and prove that I can bounce back from an unsuccessful year and come back and be the dude that I was my freshman or sophomore years.
