HUNTSVILLE — Junior Jonathan Hennigan’s nine-strikeout start wasn’t enough to prevent Texas State’s 8-6 loss to Sam Houston State Monday night. The Bearkats mounted a five-run rally in the eighth inning to come back from a 6-3 deficit.
Even a 2 for 4 and three RBI night from sophomore Theodore Hoffman couldn’t stave off the SHSU win.
Despite Hennigan’s outing (six innings, five hits, three runs), the bullpen did Texas State no favors. Chase Hodson replaced the junior on the mound and proceeded to give up two hits and four earned runs in the bottom of the eighth before being relieved by Braden Pearson who gave up another hit and earned run.
