There was a time, and it wasn't long ago, when 35-plus win seasons, conference championships and trips to the NCAA Regionals were commonplace for the Texas State baseball program.
As a matter of fact, from 2007 through 2011, the Bobcats won at least 37 games during four of those five seasons, took home the Southland regular season title after back-to-back-to-back campaigns and reached the regionals in both 2009 and 2011.
Since then, Texas State has never won more than 32 games (2012) in a single season and watched its winning percentage steadily decline.
Everything hit rock bottom last season when amidst the turmoil of their head coach battling cancer the Bobcats posted a 24-32-1 record — the worst mark during Harrington's 16 years at the helm.
