In major league baseball, most fans circle the date when pitchers and catchers report as the official beginning to the season.
When it comes to the fans of the Texas State baseball team, that right of passage happens every year with the lead-off dinner.
This time around, it’s slated for Saturday, Jan. 30 at the Embassy Suites in San Marcos. Six time MLB All-Star Lance Berkman, a native of Waco, will deliver the keynote address. Berkman played at New Braunfels Canyon before attending Rice and eventually debuting with the Houston Astros in 1999 where he spent 12 seasons with the club.
