CORPUS CHRISTI — Texas State tried just about everything to create some offense on Friday afternoon against Michigan State.
Case in point: The Bobcats, who trailed by a run at the time, had their clean-up hitter Tanner Hill bunt over a runner in the eighth inning.
Yet, for as creative as Texas State got, Michigan State was still one step ahead of Ty Harrington's team. The Spartans made the most of their opportunities as the Bobcats fell 3-2 during Friday's opener of the Kleberg Bank College Classic inside Whataburger Field.
"I thought Lucas Humpal did a good job of keeping us in the game, but they won the offensive battle and they won the battle on the bases today," Harrington said.
