After Ryan Newman gave his team some life by poking a two-run single into right field to deadlock Tuesday's tilt at UFCU Disch-Falk Field, the Bobcats asked Jeremy Hallonquist to keep it that way in the bottom half of the third.
The sinker-ball pitcher came close to making that happen — he was one strike away, after all.
But, Hallonquist's 1-2 pitch caught far too much of the plate and Kody Clemens clobbered it over the 340-foot sign down the right-field line for a solo home run.
Similar to the proceeding 23 games against the Texas Longhorns, Texas State simply didn't do enough good things to knock off Augie Garrido's club during a 6-2 loss on Tuesday night in Austin.
