Bobcats Win First Conference Championship in 15 Years

JONESBORO, Ark. – For the first time in 15 years, Texas State women's basketball won a regular season conference championship as the Bobcats beat Arkansas State, 86-79, in the regular season finale on Friday at First National Bank Arena to claim a share of the Sun Belt title.

Following a loss by James Madison earlier on Friday, Texas State (21-8, 13-5 Sun Belt) entered the matchup with the Red Wolves (11-18, 6-12 Sun Belt) with an opportunity to win its first conference championship since winning the Southland Conference in 2007-08.

The Bobcats trailed after the first quarter, but following a 23-point second quarter and a third quarter in which they doubled up Arkansas State, 22-11, they were able to stake themselves a comfortable cushion going into the final period.
