LAFAYETTE, La. – The Texas State softball team (41-14, 18-5 SBC) defeated Troy Trojans (34-26, 14-13 SBC) for the second time in the 2018 Sun Belt Conference Championship in the final consolation game at Lamson Park on Friday evening by a score of 9-5 in nine innings.
The victory sets up a rematch with Louisiana in the championship game on Saturday afternoon. The two programs have played in each of the last two Sun Belt title games, Louisiana has won both.
"This team has been resilient all season long," head coach Ricci Woodard said.
