In the past, head coach Everett Withers has said it doesn’t matter if a side wins by one point — like Brett Elliott’s group did during Saturday’s spring game — or by a landslide, a win is a win.
Yet, given how the format was clearly skewed toward the offense, the fact that Randal McCray’s cohort posted 70 points was rather impressive.
Consider this: McCray’s unit reached the 70-point mark without scoring a touchdown on defense. It only had one fumble recovery.
As McCray would say later, the defense ran to the ball — a lot.
