SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State senior Ana Perez was named the Sun Belt Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week Wednesday afternoon after she finished with a combined 3-0 record in singles and doubles last week.
Perez won two No. 1 singles matches and one No. 1 doubles with senior Julia Navajo-Melendez. She and Navajo-Melendez were ahead 6-5 in another doubles match before it was suspended because the Bobcats captured the doubles point.
Perez defeated McNeese's Giovanna Fioretti 7-6, 6-4 and Stephen F. Austin's Gabi Guilarte 6-2, 6-2 in her two singles matches.
