SAN ANTONIO, Texas – On the first day of the Lone Star Invitational at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club, Chase Ambrose fired a 36-hole total of 147 (+3) to sit in a tie for 10th place to pace the Texas State men's golf team. The Bobcats are in 14th after a 39-over par 615.
Ambrose started the tournament with a 75 in the first round after carding 15 pars and three bogies. The freshmen responded with an even par 72 in the afternoon round thanks to five birdies. He is tied with Cincinnati's Blake Hamilton, Rice's Mario Carmona and Charlie Corner and Frederik Dreier of UTEP.
