MLB Trade Rumors: The New York Yankees are acquiring Rougned Odor from the Texas Rangers, per reports. Jeff Passan says the Rangers are eating most of the $27 million Odor is still due on his current contract.
Odor was designated for assignment last week, after the club had already announced that he would not make the Opening Day roster. The Rangers committed to Nick Solak at second base for 2021 in the offseason, but indicated that Odor would have a chance to compete for the third base job in spring training. Odor did better than expected defensively at third base, but the organization did not see things turning around for Odor, who had struggled mightily offensively, and felt it was best to move on.
