Why Rangers GM Jon Daniels has given the keys to the team to his 'Core Four' young players

ARLINGTON - The Rangers have identified their Core Four.

During last year's season-ending series at Seattle, general manager Jon Daniels brought together second baseman Rougned Odor, outfielders Joey Gallo and Nomar Mazara and closer Jose Leclerc for a discussion.

(Infielder Jurickson Profar was in the group, but he has since been traded to Oakland.)

Daniels talked to the players about a season gone bad and the tasks awaiting, starting with the selection of a new manager. Daniels followed with a series of questions for the players about what they thought the club needed in areas ranging from clubhouse chemistry to team rules.
