Morning, all!
Former Ranger Mark Teixeira has been elected to the US House of Representatives in Texas’ 21st Congressional District.
I’m not seeing anything else Rangers-related out there. So let’s talk about Star Trek.
If you were a Star Trek fan in the ’90s, you probably remember the Ferengi, an alien species whose defining cultural characteristic was an overwhelming obsession with commerce and accumulating wealth. Their appearance and characterization have drawn criticism for echoing antisemitic caricatures, which probably wasn’t helped by the fact that the most notable Ferengi were all played by Jewish actors. Deep Space Nine, the series that did the most with the Ferengi, gave them considerably more depth.
