Watch: Rangers' Joey Gallo launches first-pitch home run in All-Star Game debut

How did Joey Gallo's All-Star Game debut go?

He homered on the first pitch he saw.

Off of San Francisco Giants reliever Will Smith in the 7th inning, Gallo blasted a first-pitch fastball to give the American League a 4-1 lead.

Smith had given up two home runs total to left-handed hitters in the past three seasons. The homer was also the Rangers' first in an All-Star Game since Mark Teixeira in 2005.

Gallo, who had back-to-back seasons of 40 homers and sub-.210 batting averages in his first two full years in the majors, was voted on to the team as a reserve by players and coaches.
