Pitching for the first time since being temporarily relieved of closing duties, Jose Leclerc had perhaps his best outing of the season. Asked to protect a three-run lead in the seventh, Leclerc retired the side in order on 17 pitches. All but four of them were strikes.
The Rangers have worked to make a small mechanical adjustment in Leclerc's delivery to better allow him to "finish" his fastball. He threw eight fastballs Saturday, six of them for strikes. That included a swing-and-miss from Randall Grichuk for a strikeout and a 3-0 fastball to Vladimir Guerrero that allowed him to get back into the at-bat.
