Thoughts on a 5-0 Rangers win
- Man, Jacob deGrom is good. And is good as a member of the Texas Rangers, to boot.
- Just 81 pitches to go seven innings. He had a shot at a Maddux if Bruce Bochy and the Rangers weren’t being cautious with his workload.
- deGrom’s approach was pretty simple. He threw mostly fastballs and sliders, and the Nationals couldn’t handle it. He did throw 7 changeups, but they mostly went for balls. He generated 10 whiffs on the slider and 5 on the fastball.
- Eight Ks on the game for deGrom. No walks, though he hit a batter, and two base hits.
