Theo Epstein resigns as Cubs president

MLB Rumors: Theo Epstein, the Chicago Cubs president of baseball operations, is leaving his post as president of baseball operations, the team announced today. Jeff Passan and Jon Paul Morosi both say on Twitter that Epstein has “resigned.” His leaving his post is effective as of November 20, 2020 — this Friday. Jed Hoyer is taking over as president of baseball operations for the Cubs.

The timing of this move is very surprising, although there has been talk that Epstein, who joined the Cubs as president of baseball operations after the 2011 season, and who at that time hired then-San Diego Padres g.
