The wear and tear of catching can't keep Rangers' Robinson Chirinos from thinking about turmoil at home in Venezuela

MINNEAPOLIS - Once again the Rangers starting catcher, Robinson Chirinos gets to once again contend with painful foul tips, the ever-present possibility of concussion and the wear and the general wear and tear on his body.

The off days, though, might be harder.

Friday was one of those off days.

On the days he plays, Chirinos can at least put his phone inside his locker and turn his attention to baseball responsibilities. When he does not, the phone is never far from his hand. And it never stops buzzing. News alerts about Venezuela. Pleas from friends and family back home.
